Jules M.Haas is Of Counsel to Lamson & Cutner, P.C. representing the firm’s clients in Guardianship and Surrogate’s Court proceedings.
Mr. Haas received his B.A. from Hofstra University, and his J.D. cum laude, from the New England School of Law, where he was a Senior Editor of the New England Law Review. Mr. Haas also attended the New York University School of Law Graduate Tax Program.
Having been born and lived in New York, Mr. Haas began his law career in 1979 working with a number of prominent New York law firms and concentrating his efforts representing clients in Guardianship on Surrogate’s Court matters. Throughout this time and continuing to the present, Mr. Haas has been keenly aware of the personal, emotional, and complicated issues that families and individuals face in these matters. The appointment of a Guardian and Guardianship Law, the utilization of a Power of Attorney, Living Will, Last Will and Healthcare Proxy are interwoven with the need to protect or assist a family member in planning their future or in a time of need.
Mr. Haas has always combined practical and effective legal representation with an understanding and insight as to his clients’ and their family’s circumstances and desires. Representation of clients in Guardianship and Surrogates’ Court proceedings such as Probate, Estate Administration, Accounting and Kinship matters requires the full range of understanding and involvement that is advocated by Mr. Haas.
Mr. Haas’s experience in these areas has been recognized and he has been appointed by the New York State Courts as Court Evaluator, Counsel for Incapacitated Persons and as Guardian ad Litem. Mr. Haas is a member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Trusts and Estates. He has served as a mentor in the Elder Law Program at New York Law School and has lectured on Surrogate’s Court and Guardianship matters before many organizations.
